How to Schedule the Open Sales Orders Report by Email

Send timely reminders to help ensure that ALL outstanding sales orders are fulfilled on time!


The QuickBooks Open Sales Orders by Customer Report shows sales that have closed but have yet to be delivered. It is available in the Premier and Enterprise editions of QuickBooks:



To automatically email the Open Sales Orders by Customer Report from ActiveBooks:

  1. Download, install and configure ActiveBooks, if necessary.

  2. Start ActiveBooks.

  3. Select Notification > Add to open the Add Notification window:

  4. On the General tab:

    • Choose your QuickBooks company file in the Using field. (You'll only need to do this if you have set up multiple company files.)

    • In the Send the field, expand the dropdown list and select Open Sales Orders by Customer.

    • In the To field, enter your email address. You can easily send the report to members of your sales team too - just add their addresses (comma separated).

    • Finally, configure when and how often to email the report. Once a week should be sufficient, on Mondays @ 9 AM, but you can set it to daily, weekly or monthly as you like.

  5. By default, ActiveBooks includes the report in the body of the email message, but PDF, Excel and CSV (comma separated value) attachments are also available. To deliver a PDF attachment, switch over to the Customize tab, check the Instead of including the report in the body... box, and select A PDF File.

  6. Click the Save >> button. In a second or two, an entry for Open Sales Orders by Customer will show up in the ActiveBooks window.

  7. That's it! Your Open Sales Orders by Customer Report will be automatically emailed every Monday at 9 in the morning. Feel free to preview the report (by selecting Notification > Preview...), or update it to change the time, add an email address, etc.
