Email the QuickBooks Transaction Detail by Account every Month

Easily oversee your company's transactions without having to log in to QuickBooks. Use this critical information to ensure that your money is being managed properly!


The QuickBooks Transaction Detail by Account report lists the transactions that have occurred in a given time period, grouped and totaled by account.



To automatically email the Transaction Detail by Account Report from ActiveBooks:

  1. Download, install and configure ActiveBooks, if necessary.

  2. Start ActiveBooks.

  3. Select Notification > Add to open the Add Notification window:

  4. On the General tab:

    • If you have multiple QuickBooks company files set up, choose the one you wish to report on in the Using field.

    • In the Send the field, choose the Transaction Detail by Account Report entry.

    • The For field will default to This Month-to-date, but since we want to review the previous month's transactions, we'll choose Last Month instead.

    • In the To field, enter the email address(s) to receive the Transaction Detail by Account Report report. You can deliver the report to as many people as you like (separate each email address with a comma).

    • And finally, since we want to email the report on the first of each month, in the Every field, select Month, on day 1 and choose a time that works for you. 7 AM does the trick for us.

  5. Click the Save >> button. In a second or two, an entry for Transaction Detail by Account Report (Last Month) will show up in the ActiveBooks window.

  6. That's it! Your Transaction Detail by Account Report will be automatically emailed to you on the first of the month at 7 in the morning. Feel free to preview the report (by selecting Notification > Preview...), or edit it to change the time, add email address, etc.
